Recently, a reporter learned that a company in Changzhou has an extraordinary relationship with equestrian sports. This company, named Changzhou Jiazhuo, manufactures solar-powered horse caravans that will arrive in London on the opening day of the 2012 Olympics and may even appear at the opening ceremony.
Export of more than 1000 horse trailers
Previously, in domestic equestrian competitions, horses were often transported using transport trucks and modified vehicles, resulting in frequent transport injuries. The production of horse trailers is one of the most important supporting industries for horse racing.
In the domestic horse trailer market, Changzhou Jiazhuo is a leader. Since 2007, it has exported more than 1000 trailers to countries such as Australia, New Zealand, and Iceland.
The horse trailers designed and produced by Changzhou Jiazhuo are divided into two types according to their Applications: horse-carrying type and horse-carrying RV type. Both can transport horses and accommodate people, but the former mainly provides professional services for various equestrian sports and competitions, while the latter is fully equipped with a kitchen, shower, workshop, special water and power systems, etc.
In the "Horseshoe Link" Beijing-London
The four-year "Horseshoe Link Olympic Cities" Beijing-London equestrian cross-country event began last year, led by a British lady named Megan Levis. The event aims to expand the post-Games impact of the Beijing Olympics and promote the London Olympics.
After learning about the event, we proactively contacted the Chinese Equestrian Association, intending to sponsor a horse-carrying trailer and a horse-carrying RV trailer for this cross-country team," said Li Leigang, deputy general manager of Changzhou Jiazhuo Special Vehicle Co., Ltd. "Because a professional horse trailer is of great significance to such a difficult journey."
Only 20 days after the sponsorship commitment, the first horse-carrying trailer was transported to the event site. Megan spoke highly of the trailer, writing in her thank-you letter: "The horse trailer works great on relatively flat roads, and the small kitchen, sink, and solar panels allow us to luxuriously enjoy the journey. I am very grateful for the sponsor's generosity; their products are excellent and will have a large market."
The destination of the 3 trailers
The first trailer, worth more than 100,000 yuan, ensured the cross-country team's first leg of the journey from Beijing to Jiayuguan.
Preparing for the second leg of the journey, Megan changed the route and wanted to try passing through some canyon areas. On April 1, 2010, one month after receiving the request, Changzhou Jiazhuo provided Megan with another trailer worth more than 200,000 yuan free of charge.
"Compared to the first vehicle, this one has added air conditioning and rescue equipment." Li Leigang explained that the first towed trailer was only suitable for short distances and good road conditions, while the second self-propelled trailer had enough space to store hay, feed, and equipment for long distances and complex road conditions.
It is understood that in the spring of 2011, the Sino-British cross-country team will reach Yining and then switch to the third vehicle provided by Changzhou Jiazhuo—a 500,000 yuan horse-carrying RV trailer—to travel to Europe.
Li Leigang told the reporter that the first vehicle has recently returned to Changzhou and will be permanently preserved by the company; the second vehicle currently in use will be left in Beijing; the third vehicle may appear at the London Olympics and is ultimately planned to be auctioned, with all proceeds donated to a children's foundation.
